Dr. Wilhelm Lichtenberg
Dr Wilhelm Lichtenberg, is more than just a caring doctor. His musical talent has earned him the title of “The Singing Surgeon”. The good doctor lives in Cape Town, where he is in full-time practice as a Cardiothoracic Surgeon.
His father is responsible for fostering a young Wilhelm’s deep love of music, and so the dream of being an opera singer started in his early years.
Young Hearts Africa
Another important part of Dr Lichtenberg’s life is his foundation, The Young Hearts Africa Foundation.
Young Hearts Africa is all about caring for the hearts of the children of our continent. He believes that every child deserves a chance to live a healthy and fulfilling life and to become the best that they can be.
Through the beauty of music, Wilhelm aims to tell the stories of these children and to raise much needed funds and awareness to make the life-saving operations these children desperately need possible and help them, their families and their communities create a better life and a more prosperous future.
It is the Young Hearts Africa Foundation’s mission to create global awareness of the dire need for specialized cardiac healthcare services among children in Africa. To develop the Young Hearts Africa Foundation into a dynamic, successful fundraising vehicle. This will be achieved by donating the proceeds from the sales of Wilhelm’s music productions and other local and major international artists, as well as public funding initiatives, towards surgical programs to achieve the ultimate goal of facilitating lifesaving heart surgery for 1000 additional patients a year over the next 5 years. https://youngheartsafrica.org/
